Death stalks the starving in WotLD...

We recently made a brave attempt to bring back death from starvation and dehydration to World of the Living Dead. The results were colorful, to say the least, with several thousand characters dying unexpectedly in the first few days as the result of a catastrophic bug. We temporarily suspended deaths from hunger and thirst, but now they're back to stay.
Survivors originally died without much warning after a few days without liquids, or a few weeks without food. Now they'll suffer the normal penalties to combat and scavenging, but also start to lose injury points if left at maximum hunger or thirst. This gives players a chance to get out there and find enough supplies to keep them alive.
We'll soon be bringing back timed ration breaks to allow players to automate caring for their survivors. Until then, characters will permanently die if neglected. You have been warned...

Axed members
After listening to feedback from our testers, we've removed all membership options from the game and replaced them with a single SCUGS Upgrade which can be purchased with in-game credits. The upgrade includes all UI improvements from memberships but doesn't unbalance the game with Survival Point boosts or other advantages.

Reset imminent
The current closed beta server has been running for over a year. This is much longer than we originally intended but there are only two of us on the WotLD team, so we're a little more like the tortoise than the hare. As an indie game with over two years of continual development, we're proud to say that we're going to take the plunge and go into open beta in the very near future.
There's still plenty to be done - our roadmap could keep us busy for years - but we want to give our players the chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure... Or at least the chance to kill even more zeds and really see what they've learned about survival in the zombocalypse...
